Despite Tesla’s ambitious production plans, the sales of the Cybertruck have fallen far short of the company’s expectations. According to the latest reports, Tesla delivered only around 5,000 Cybertruck electric pickups in the second quarter of 2025, a drastic decline compared to the company’s initial projections of over 250,000 units per year.
In Tesla’s latest production and delivery report, the «other models» category, which includes the Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Tesla Semi, saw the company manufacture 13,409 vehicles and deliver 10,394. This is less than half of the peak reached in 2024, when Tesla was still fulfilling pre-orders for the Cybertruck.
While Tesla does not provide separate statistics for each model, international data suggests that the Model S and Model X accounted for around 5,000 deliveries. This implies that the Cybertruck likely sold around 5,000 units during the quarter.
The decline in Cybertruck sales occurred despite the availability of a $7,500 tax credit. It remains unclear how Tesla will respond to these disappointing figures. Earlier, it was reported that Tesla had begun accepting the Cybertruck for trade-ins, indicating the company’s efforts to boost sales.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Tesla has accumulated a stockpile of over 10,000 unsold Cybertruck pickups on its lots, adding to the company’s challenge in managing its inventory and meeting its ambitious production targets.
